NORTH VANCOUVER, BC – At approximately 11:00 am on October 22, 2018, an incident involving terminal yard equipment occurred, resulting in the fatal injury of an ILWU longshore worker employed at Neptune Terminals.

Emergency responders were immediately notified and emergency protocols were activated. The employee was transported to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

“All of us at Neptune Terminals are devastated by this news. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and offer our support during this difficult time,” said Claus Thornberg, President of Neptune Terminals.

The health and safety of everyone who works at the terminal is of primary concern. Support will be offered to other Neptune employees affected by this tragic event. We have suspended operations and are actively working with the authorities to investigate the incident fully.

“We are committed to having a full and complete understanding of the tragic events that occurred today to ensure such an accident never happens again,” added Thornberg.
