Mustaches and More!

Neptune’s team has always enjoyed its annual Movember fundraiser. Mustaches, shaves, and plenty of laughs kicked off the month, but the seriousness of the cause is always top of mind. The team continues to learn about and better understand men’s health.

Movember funds now go beyond men’s physical health issues, such as prostate cancer. Fundraising for mental health has become a key focus of the initiative, along with raising awareness in the broader community. “Getting BC Place and Science World lit up on November 9 and 16 with Movember colors was a huge coup,” says Jason Anderson, Neptune’s Team Captain. “And having former Canuck Dave Babych at our kickoff event really boosted team morale. If only we could all grow mustaches like that!”

Last year, Neptune ranked as the ninth-highest Movember fundraiser in Canada and second in BC. At the time of publication, the team had raised $78,850 this year—earning the fifth-highest spot in Canada! “Neptune is an incredible organization,” says Tyler Watkins, a Development Manager with Movember. “The grassroots approach and passion shown by this team is unparalleled. The funds they’re raising are making a huge difference, helping men realize it’s okay to not be okay.”

With 245 people attending Neptune’s kickoff barbeque, generous donations from employees, prize support from contractors, and services from community members, it’s clear Neptune has made its Movember campaign an essential part of changing lives in the community and beyond.
