Riding for Rescues… and more

Community Update Rotary Ride for Rescue

The Rotary Club of West Vancouver Sunrise has been a consistent fundraising partner for several organizations on the North Shore. With a motto of ‘service above self’ the Rotary Club network spans the globe and is the world’s largest service club.

Now in its 10th year, the 2021 Rotary Ride for Rescue will look a little different. This year riders can complete the Cypress Mountain course between May 12th and June 12th or take part in the virtual climb option.

A team of Neptune riders completes the challenge every year, and we are pleased to sponsor the event because it raises funds for groups that make the North Shore safer for everyone who lives and recreates here: North Shore Rescue and Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue.

“Annual, ongoing funding like we receive from the Rotary Club is incredibly important to our organization,” says Mike Danks, Team Leader, North Shore Rescue. “We rely heavily on donations to operate and given the high rate of call-out—over 150 calls in 2020 alone—we need to keep our equipment in top shape. This funding will go directly towards that.”
