“You could be a kid for as long as you want when you play baseball.” – Cal Ripken, Jr.
This year looked a little different for young athletes across the North Shore; because of COVID-19 all spring sports were cancelled or postponed. Nonetheless, Neptune is continuing its support for a variety of youth sports including baseball, field hockey and soccer. And now that many local leagues have been able to put health and safety protocols in place, we are so pleased that youth sports are back in action.
One of these sports is summer baseball, which is going strong across the North Shore once again. In 2020 we invested in four baseball clubs across the North Shore: Highlands, Lynn Valley and Mount Seymour Little Leagues, and North Shore Baseball. Funds are directed to supporting the youngest players, usually T-ball and rookie levels. Our support helps keep fees low, funds new uniforms, and in some cases outfits teams with first aid kit backpacks to use this summer.
"The support from Neptune Terminals for our club has been exceptional. Without the investment from community partners like Neptune we would not be able to offer free uniforms to our youngest players- something that brings great excitement for all." Jasmine Barry, President, Mount Seymour Little League. “Not only are we stocked with uniforms and first aid gear for next season, the funding keeps baseball at a really accessible entry point for kids so that anyone can join.”
