Leadership Through Service

Community Dinners

The Community Initiatives and Leadership program at Carson Graham Secondary School continues to have a meaningful impact both within the school and throughout the community.

This Grade 10–12 course, now in its tenth year, is at full capacity with 40 students enrolled (from over 120 applicants). Meeting weekly after school, students develop leadership skills through hands-on service — building experience in public speaking, event planning, teamwork, work readiness, and FOODSAFE certification.

This year, students have:

  • With support from Neptune, hosted regular community dinners at the school, serving an average of 70–80 guests (with up to 150 at larger events).
  • Organized seasonal outreach initiatives, including loading backpacks with essentials to share with community members in need.
  • Participated in leadership-building experiences such as a ropes course and an annual sleepout at the school to raise funds for Covenant House.
