Since joining Neptune Terminals in July 2025 as Controller, Capital Projects, Sandy Sull has quickly become immersed in one of the organization’s most complex areas of work. Leading a team of three, Sandy and her colleagues oversee Neptune’s portfolio of capital projects, including initiatives supporting steelmaking coal, potash and other terminal assets.

With as many as 130 projects moving through different stages at any given time, Sandy’s role extends well beyond traditional accounting. She believes understanding the broader business is essential to making sound financial decisions. Her team works with project managers to secure funding, assess proposals and ensure projects support Neptune’s long-term strategy and business plan.

For Sandy, a good capital project is about more than the numbers. Projects must deliver meaningful benefits in areas such as safety, operational efficiency and/or environmental performance, while also reflecting Neptune’s commitment to being a good neighbour and community member. They must ultimately align with shareholder expectations as well.

Her career, including experience with Kinder Morgan and UBC, has given her the breadth and scope to approach capital planning from multiple perspectives. Current priorities include supporting the Berth 2 Dumper 2 project and strengthening collaboration between Neptune’s Corporate Finance and Capital Finance teams, with a focus on improved reporting and greater access to live data.

Sandy has lived on the North Shore for nearly 20 years, along with her husband and two sons. She serves on the board of Enhance West Van and is preparing for PumpkinFest, an event she says showcases the remarkable work of local community groups. She recently welcomed summer student Lauren Chow to the team, reflecting her interest in developing the next generation of talent.
