Supporting the Next Generation of Professionals

Co op Students Wesley Penman Lauren Chow Neptune Terminals

At Neptune Terminals, investing in the next generation is an important part of supporting the community and building future leaders. Through student tours, co-op placements, and summer employment opportunities, Neptune is helping young people gain firsthand experience while exploring potential career paths.

This spring, Neptune welcomed students from Capilano University for a tour of the terminal, offering an inside look at port operations and careers in the industry. In June, students from Carson Graham Secondary School also visited the terminal.

Neptune is also providing meaningful work experience opportunities for post-secondary students. Wesley Penman, a third-year business student at the University of Victoria completing a co-op placement in Human Resources and Communications, has supported projects related to recruitment, payroll and benefits administration, employee communication, community engagement and event planning. “The biggest thing for me is that co-op students aren’t treated like temporary workers,” says Wesley. “Everyone has been very open and willing to share their knowledge.”

Lauren Chow, a second-year student at the UBC Sauder School of Business, is spending her third summer at Neptune, where she currently works as a Finance Assistant on the Capital Projects team. “It’s a very welcoming environment with lots of mentorship opportunities,” says Lauren. “The company is really invested in helping students succeed.”

By creating opportunities for students to learn and grow, Neptune continues to support education, community connections, and the future workforce.
