North Shore Canada Day Tradition Continues

Canada Day Cupcakes Shipyards Neptune Terminals

The Rotary Club of Lions Gate is once again preparing to host the North Shore’s annual Canada Day celebration at the Shipyards on July 1, continuing a community tradition that has brought people together for more than 47 years.

This free community event, made possible through the continued support of partners including Neptune Terminals, the City and District of North Vancouver, local businesses, volunteers, and community organizations, will run from approximately 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the foot of Lonsdale and into the Shipyards. During the celebration, the area will be open to foot traffic only, creating a vibrant and family-friendly atmosphere along the waterfront.

This year’s festivities will feature local entertainers, kids’ activities, food trucks, and interactive community programming, with a special focus on staying active and healthy as excitement builds around the FIFA World Cup being in Vancouver. Canada Soccer will be participating, bringing soccer-themed activities and energy to the event. Visitors can also look forward to displays and participation from the Royal Canadian Navy.

“Canada Day at the Shipyards continues to grow because of the incredible support we receive from our community partners, sponsors, and dedicated volunteers,” said Stan van Woerkens, Past President, Rotary Club of Lions Gate. “We’re very grateful for the ongoing commitment from organizations and local businesses that help make this free event possible.”

Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy a day of celebration, connection and community spirit on the North Shore this Canada Day.
